Our products are used by world-leading productions in more than 40 countries — including Oasis, Radiohead, Depeche Mode, the Eurovision Song Contest, and the Olympic Games.
Since 2015, we've built a reputation as the premium choice for smart power distribution — where safety and reliability are critical and failure is not an option. Our award-winning X-series platform received the PLASA Innovation Award and is now used worldwide in touring, broadcast, and large-scale events.
Following the X-series launch in 2025, demand has exceeded our production capacity. We're now looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to help scale production, build our internal structures, and develop the next generation of our products.
About the role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer at StageSmarts, you'll play a key role in a small and innovative company where your work directly impacts products used in mission-critical environments worldwide. You'll work closely with production, suppliers, and the CTO in a dynamic environment with short decision paths and real opportunities to influence both products and processes.
In this role you will:
Mechanical design and product development
Work with detailed mechanical design and product development
Create concept designs and develop new products
Adapt and refine designs for optimal manufacturability
Perform CAD work (we currently use TopSolid but are open to other systems)
Produce manufacturing documentation and bills of materials
Production support and optimization
Prepare and continuously optimize manufacturing processes
Support production in day-to-day work and drive quality improvements
Create documentation for manufacturing subcontractors
Supplier collaboration
Maintain technical dialogue with suppliers in Sweden and across Europe
Handle quality-related issues and follow-ups
Travel to suppliers when needed
You will report to the company's CTO.
About you
You're a practical, solution-oriented engineer who takes ownership and drives work forward. You're comfortable working close to production and suppliers, and you care about quality, details, and manufacturability. You communicate clearly, collaborate well, and thrive in an environment where your decisions have real impact.
Education and experience
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, technical college graduate with extensive experience, or equivalent
Solid experience with detailed mechanical design and production adaptation
Practical understanding of different manufacturing methods
Technical competence
Good knowledge of 3D CAD (we use TopSolid but are open to other systems)
Experience working closely with production and suppliers
Experience creating manufacturing documentation and bills of materials
Personal qualities
Practical and solution-oriented
Self-driven, with the ability to move tasks forward
Communicative and collaborative
Quality-focused, with strong attention to detail
Requirements
Fluent in Swedish and English, written and spoken
Experience with 3D CAD
Meritorious
Experience with electrical systems or power equipment
Knowledge of electronic control systems or EMC and electrical safety requirements
Experience from product development in manufacturing companies
Experience with quality work and continuous improvement processes
Experience with Monitor ERP or PLM systems
Category B driver's license
